The Floyd County Animal Rescue League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) group devoted to the education of the community in the humane treatment of animals and responsible and enjoyable pet ownership. We are an organization that assists and supports the NAFC Animal Shelter, and works to reduce the number of unwanted animals in Floyd County. This year, they have a greater need than ever due to the current economy. The following are just a few ways you can donate to our organization:

 Walk For A Dog

WoofTrax, through the Walk for a Dog mobile app, creates fundraising opportunities for shelters and rescues while encouraging dogs and their humans to exercise together regularly.

Memorial Tree

Another way to permanently memorialize a pet or pet lover is to purchase an inscribed leaf or rock for the memorial tree that graces the lobby of the New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter building.

By purchasing an inscription on a memorial rock or leaf, you can keep the fond memories of your pets and pet lovers alive and remember them for the love they have brought to your life.

Memorial Tree leaf and rock order form available here.

Aluminum Cans

FCARL collects aluminum cans to help pay for shelter medical expenses, offsite adopt-a-thons, special adoption promotions, entry of animals into the breed rescue program, spay/neuter programs, and improved pet care education.

As there is no curb side pickup recycling in parts of Floyd County, perhaps you are throwing away aluminum cans that could be turned in for cash. It doesn't sound like recycling aluminum could amount to much but for 2013, this program generated $1,661.40 for FCARL!

You can donate cans at the NAFC Animal Shelter at 215 West Market Street by placing your bagged cans next to the large trailer bin that's filled with cans on the side of the building. The cans are rounded up daily and put in the trailer bin.

Thank you so much for helping us to help the animals of our community!
